No HSDPA Everun in the USA

In talking with Adam Snide yesterday, he explained to me that Raon has not completed the FCC paperwork to be allowed to import the HSPDA models into the US. I think that Raon is not wanting to put a bunch of money into this project, at this time.

A few comments he made to me were that the slanted keys of the keyboard were a real negative for him.

Not having Windows Tablet was a big negative, too. You have to realize that Adam is going to preach OQO, so he is coming at it from that angle.

For a gadget person, this will be a nice bridge from PDA to PC.

Are there Windows applications that can be installed on the Everun to take advantage of the touch screen?

Demo update

Good news and not-so-good news.

I actually got to speak with Adam Snide, president and co-founder of BuildYourUMPC. We had a nice conversation about UMPCs and how the Everun might impact the market. Adam is a definite fan of the OQO, and he has good reason. He sells about 40 OQO's for every one of any other device in their line.

In talking, he rescinded his offer to send me a demo unit. Or at least he is going to delay it. Money got in the way - he would have to delay an order to get me one, and he decided not to do that.

I will put up a few other Everun notes under a different heading.

Everun on its way!

GREAT NEWS!!!

BuildYourUMPC is going to send me a demo unit.

I just received word that Adam Snide is going to allow me to demo an Everun. If you don't the folks at BuildYourUMPC, you should check out their site. The prices are a little better than those of Dynamism. If the price is comparable, let them know and they will work with you on a price.

I hope to be able to post some video of the whole experience. I am especially anxious to see how my AT&T sim card works in it, if at all. HSDPA has not made its way to Mississippi, but I am told that the Everun will work with EDGE. I will confirm whether that is so.

Are there any other questions you would like answered? Let me know, and I will put forth an effort to answer them.
